Junior Accountant:
The Junior Accountant is responsible for recording all financial transactions, including ACH and wire payments, into the correct general ledger and verifying their accuracy each day. This position will manage accounts receivable and accounts payable, generate regular reports for senior management, and oversee and reconcile financial transactions through various software programs.
Essential Functions, Duties, and Responsibilities:
- Review and process financial transactions to ensure they are accurate, complete, and up-to-date.
- Manage accounts payable: including reviewing, coding, and processing payments to vendors, and accounts receivable: including invoicing, deposits, collections, and revenue recognition.
- Conduct account reconciliations as needed.
- Assist in preparing financial reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing data.
- Maintain accurate records of financial transactions and update financial data in the system.
- Post and process journal entries to ensure business transactions are recorded properly.
- Assist with preparing balance sheets, income statements, and other financial statements according to accounting guidelines.
- Review expenses, payroll records, and other financial documents assigned.
- Prepare and submit monthly financial reports.
- Assist in monthly/yearly closings and various accounting projects.
- Manage payroll and payroll functions, ensuring accurate deductions and processing each month.
- Work well as part of a team and in a fast-paced office environment.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Competencies:
- Degree in accounting, finance, or a related field preferred
- 3+ years of accounting and/or bookkeeping experience
- Proficient with Microsoft Office, including Excel and QuickBooks
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to execute tasks efficiently.
- Solid understanding of payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger principles.
- Excellent math skills with the ability to work accurately and independently.
- Strong work ethic, with the ability to multi-task and self-motivate to complete tasks.
